#FagunwaWAS: A walk Awareness Against the Ills of Suicide 

​The Fagunwa Walk Against Suicide is an initiative of the Fagunwa hall excos and its residents. The three day movement is dedicated to the the 100 level Business Administration student – Ariyibi Ayomide who reportedly took her life by drinking sniper after series of shaming by her roommates and other people for allegedly stealing and other students who took their own lives.

 

The Walk Against Suicide is an initiative to discourage suicide and the thought of it. Its a walk to encourage the value of life and living. The first day started with the trade fair to commensurate the 3-day campaign, the fair lasted from 9am-6pm. 

The trade fair continued the Fagunwa WAS commenced today, the walk started by 12pm after being delayed by the rain, it started off at Fagunwa with a lot of ladies and gentlemen from different hostel who came along to show their support for the movement wearing the branded shirts to support the movement, down to the hostels on the main campus – Jaja, Mariere and Moremi, down to the hostels on Ransome Kuti Road – Biobaku, Kofo and Amina hostels respectively and back to Fagunwa at 4:00 pm. 


The tagline of the walk read – ‘Say no to sniper, drink 5alive and stay alive’.

The talk to discourage suicide took place at the hostel’s relaxation centre and ended with refreshments.
