It is the last day of the first week in November 2016, and before we move in to the 2nd week of November, it is expidient for me to write on “Overcoming Fear & Anxiety”, because majority have found themselves encapsulated in this 4 letter word called fear which eventually leads into anxiety.
Permit me to do a breakdown of the word FEAR.
Your fears are not walls, but hurdles. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the conquering of it. If love is the unconditional acceptance of what is, then fear is the non-acceptance of what is, leading to resistance. Where there is love, oneness naturally exists; where there is fear, a chasm of separateness opens up. However as we confront our fears, the inhibition they had caused in our lives melts away. The doors are swung open. What we previously thought was too hard now becomes possible, even enjoyable.
Even, a wonderful new life! You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you.
Brian Tracy once said that: “We are naturally afraid of the unknown, or of forces that may overpower us, or things that may go wrong.
But equally we can face these fears, when we are sufficiently motivated to “do it anyway.” The attitude we adopt is our choice and determines whether our thoughts, and corresponding emotions and actions, are empowering or self-defeating. Our motivation may include success, power, pleasure, possession, control and so on. But the highest motivation is love, and that light will erase the shadows of fear and take us through all the world can throw at us.
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you look fear in the face. You must do the thing that you think you cannot do. We may find ourselves dwelling on such matters as our career paths and our vocational satisfaction, feeling trapped and unhappy yet afraid to break out and try something different. We are stronger than we believe; however desperate circumstances may seem, there is a path forward whereby all things remain possible.
When we feel troubled by fear, anxiety and worries it is easy to feel these emotions are caused by the unpleasant situation you are facing. However it is the way you are reacting to the unpleasant situation that is causing the fear and anxiety. By learning not to react in fearful ways you release love in your heart and happiness becomes your constant companion.
Overcoming fear, anxiety and worries is achieved by feeling safe in challenging circumstances because you have the resources to deal with whatever life throws at you. Stay calm, do what you know how to do, don’t panic in fearful situation, there is a sleeping giant in you that says be courageous, and an active ant in you that makes you feel timid. It all balls down to which do you choose to hear and accept, either the sleeping giant or the active fearful ant.
